Presidents Message:
Welcome to the Silicon Valley Chapter of ARMA International. The purpose of the Chapter is to promote and advance the improvement of record and information administration, management, legal, IT and related fields through study, education, and research.
Last year our Chapter had an incredibly successful AND incredibly busy year. We found our lunchtime meetings were more accommodating to our member’s busy lives and hectic schedules. Our 2011-2012 Chapter plans are in place and promises to hold just as much excitement, education and value to both our members as well as non-menbers!
Our theme for the 2011-2012 Chapter year is “Upscaling Information and Technology Professionalism”. The events we have planned are geared to increase the professional knowledge and expertise of each of our members. Events planned by the Board of Directors of the SVC include 8 luncheon meetings with high quality speakers and content. Meetings are held the second Thursday of the month from 11:30am to 1:30pm, with the first and last 30 minutes for networking. In October we will hold our first Senior Shred Day in the City of Santa Clara. In December we will hold the 4th annual SVC Sharks holiday party at the HP Pavilion. It has become a highlight for members, non members, and our Gold and Silver sponsors. Our 2nd annual Tri-Chapter Spring Seminar will be held in April 18, 2012. We are also hosting our an all-day Certified Records Manager Exam (CRM) Preparation workshop for those interested in candidating for the CRM exam March 23, 2012.
Our Chapter is currently comprised of 69 members representing high technology, law firms, city agencies, and vendors offering records management, technology and storage solutions. The continued success and growth of our Chapter rests with its future leaders and involved Chapter members.
As the President of the 2011-2012 Chapter year I encourage each of you to participate in the meetings and consider opportunities in our planned community outreach activities. The Silicon Valley Chapter will also work with the Mt. Diablo, Golden Gate, and Sacramento Chapters as well as with local AIIM Chapters to produce joint meeting sessions.
We value your voice and participation and we look forward to seeing you!
